Hello 2017 - Sew Cute Tuesday

Welcome to the first Sew Cute Tuesday of 2017! I hope everyone had a wonderful New Years! Ours started off pretty rough with 3 out of the 4 of us getting a nasty respiratory infection. Thankfully William was the only one that needed antibiotics, and little Sammy and I relied on the humidifier and the Nose Frieda! It seems super gross to but that sucker (pun intended 😆) was a a champ at getting all Sam's boogies out so he could breathe.

Ok enough booger talk. I am currently up to my eyeballs in economy blocks. My sister decided the week before Christmas that she wanted a guestbook quilt for her wedding that is on January 15th, at the time I was all for it.... then I got sick lol! It's funny how things happen like that. Thankfully economy blocks are a quick sew.
I am foundation paper piecing the blocks so that there is some stability for when people sign them with the fabric markers. The block with dark centers are some filler blocks to show my sister the variety that the final quilt will have. That black fabric has metallic threads woven in it, and a photograph simply doesn't show how pretty it really is!
I wasn't sure which fabric pens to use to sign the blocks, so I did what we all do when we need quilty advice... I asked on Instagram! My friend Julia suggested using Tulip fabric markers, so I found a rainbow set of 20 of them on Amazon. They write really easily across the fabric, which is good for people who aren't used to doing it, and I like the option that there can be multiple colors.

Here are some of the pretty projects shared at the last Sew Cute Tuesday:

Lori of Cross Quilt shared a pair of these awesome project bags she made for her mom's cross stitch projects.

Patty from Elm Street Quilts made this awesome pillow cover for her daughter.

Finally, Anja from Anja Quilts finished her Modern HST Sampler quilt top!

Now it is time to link up your finishes or works in progress from the previous week! You can link up directly from Instagram as well - be sure to tag #SewCuteTuesday and @youngtexanmama on IG so I can see what you're working on!
