May is for Makers - Weeks 3, 4, & 5

I have really enjoyed the #MayIsForMakers initiative that has taken place this last month. I supported some close friends (Hi Becca & Felice) as well as some more widely known makers. Here are the last 3 patterns that I have purchased.

Week 3 - Bubble Plus by Felice Regina of Sew Scatterbrained

Week 5 - Geometric Alphabet by Kristy of Quiet Play

May is for Makers - Week 2

My second #MayisforMakers pattern purchase is the Vera quilt by Bryan House Quilts! Becca was in the Houston Modern Quilt Guild here in Houston, but then she moved to Missouri for her husbands work. Thankfully I still get to see her at quilting events like QuiltCon and Quilt Market!

I love the Vera pattern because it is fat quarter friendly, and because it only uses a small amount of background fabric. I'm excited about making a few versions of this quilt, and I definitely have plenty of fabric to choose from!

May is for Makers - Week 1

A few days ago I told you guys about the May is for Makers campaign being started by Lindsey from LR Stitched, and I pledged to support an indie pattern designer each week in May.

So for my first week I purchased the Zippy Top by See Kate Sew. I purchased my digital copy from Indiesew because I love that I can find all of my purchases in one place when I shop there. I am hoping to get one of these done once I dig out the rest of my garment sewing supplies from the moving boxes!

Me Made May 2016

I, Hilary Jordan, sign up as a participant of Me-Made-May '16. I endeavor to wear something handmade for the majority of each week for the duration of May 2016.

Making my own clothes has always been something I love. I started sewing at the age of 13 because I wanted to make myself a Halloween costume, and I haven't slowed down since then! My first makes were pretty terrible (and I have thrown a few away over the years) but I have learned so much and I love the sewing and quilting community that I have found!

So during May I am going to attempt to wear my handmade makes for the majority of days. I know that doing it every day will be a stretch because I haven't endeavored to make basics like yoga pants, and t-shirts, oh how I love yoga pants and t-shirts. But I will track my progress on Instagram, and I will try to make it over here for a weekly recap.
