Looking Ahead to 2017

Yvonne of Quilting Jetgirl is hosting her annual planning party and I am excited to be joining in this year. I have the terrible habit of over extending myself in pretty much every aspect of life. Mama wants to do it all 😉 so my main goal for next year is to be realistic about what I can accomplish.
2017 Planning Party

These are a few goals I have for 2017:
  1. Work almost exclusively from fabrics in my stash. I have a bunch of fabric, like way more than I ever thought I would have when I started quilting almost 4 years ago! So I really want to work on using fabric faster than I acquire it.
  2. Finish 1 UFO/WIP a month.  I have a stack of quilt tops needing quilting, and several other various UFOs and WIPs from over the years that I want to get finished.
  3. Limit the number of swap/bee commitments. Don't get me wrong I love swaps, but they can end up being super time consuming and also expensive. The only commitment that I am participating in at this point in time is the #RockinBlockBee. It'll be my first time participating in a bee, so I am excited about the opportunity to make new quilting friends while making a block per month. Plus it's a good way to use fabric from my stash.
What are your goals for next year?

  2. These are excellent goals. I've not yet done a bee but tempted to do so in the future. Happy holidays!

  3. Very nice clear goals. I think I ought to adopt the "use faster than acquiring" approach to fabric too. I certainly have enough UFOs to support the second one, but I don't know if I'll reach a 1 per month level of productivity. Then again, maybe if I hold myself to a number, it'll encourage me to get it in gear.

  4. Thank you so much for linking up, Hilary! I can definitely relate to becoming over committed, and I hope these goals will be a way to keep you focused on whether to add something to your WIP list or not. I wish you a wonderful 2017 and Merry Christmas!
