Speaking of Free

Going off of my post from last week about free stuff, I am super excited about the fact that yesterday we got a FREE king size bed from friends of ours!! Considering we currently have a full sized bed, the king is going to be a magnificent upgrade {plus I get to make a jumbo sized quilt for it, super sized Swoon}.

What I am more excited about are my plans to make a headboard for this beast of a bed. If you remember when I redid our current bed, then you know I am no stranger to big DIY projects that aren't sewing related.

I have been super busy on Pinterest checking out some DIY headboard ideas. I know for sure I want to make an upholstered headboard {can't stray too far from fabric :)} but I am not sure if I want to make a complete frame for it or just the headboard.

We got a frame with the bed but it is just the basic metal frame and it is pretty low to the ground. Here are a couple of ideas I found this evening while searching Pinterest.

These are just a couple of the things that I really like. Most of the tutorials are pretty straight forward, and I know my dad and I can do something like this over a weekend. Now I just need to figure out exactly what I love and want to live with, and of course get Jeffrey's vote :) Have any of y'all ever made a DIY headboard?

  2. So exciting! Free is the best kind of stuff! I really like the first headboard, but I unfortunately have no experience making them. You're so crafty though that I bet it would be a cinch!

  4. OOOOOh king size bed! (starts daydreaming) Ours is Queen and all four of us barely fit. We made our headboard too, but no frame. The project was quite enjoyable! I love that white with the corners rounded in and the gold thumbtack accents--good luck!
Thank you so much for stopping by my blog and leaving me comment love, I appreciate that.
