I Think I Figured it Out

I have been lost for the past couple of weeks as to how I am going to quilt the quilt I am making for my sister. But I think I might have finally figured it out.

The quilt along was called The Lucky Stars QAL, so I had the idea in the back of my mind to do something with stars. I just couldn't figure out what. But then I came across The Free Motion Quilt Project. It is this amazing blog that has literally hundred of free motion quilting ideas.

While browsing the beginner designs, I found Superstar and fell in love.... well fell in like then I watched the video on the website and then fell in love :)

I'm still a bit stuck on if it will be the right fit for this quilt, or if I should save it for something else. Plus I just need to figure out if I can actually do it on my machine. I think I might be able to, but I am intimidated by the size of the quilt (56"x76").

What do y'all think? Do you think this look good, or do you think it will overwhelm the quilt?

  2. I'm not help. I've been stuck on how to quilt mine. So then I jut started custom quilting the blocks for some more FMQ practice....and still don't know what to do in the borders....but I don't like it. I wish I would have just done straight lines. As to your star, I'm not sure how it will look or if you will be able to tell....except you would from the back...and that could be pretty cool.

  3. The superstar design looks like a great idea! Test it out on some scraps before you attempt it on the quilt to give you some confidence.

  4. Every time I see your awesome quilts I kick myself for letting a bunch of unfinished ones sit! I need to get on the ball.

  5. Looks very cool! I agree with the others, test it out on some other fabric to ensure you're comfortable with the design and how it looks. Depending on the scale, it might be a little "too much."

  6. Wow, the star idea sounds really cool! Unfortunately, I have no talent in me at all when it comes to quilting. Sigh!

How long does it take you to do one usually?

  8. Oooh, yours is so pretty! I missed out on the QAL, but I love the colors you used for it. Good luck quilting, I think for me that is the hardest decision to make. Depending what you choose, it can make or break the quilt design! I think the star is really pretty tho!
