WIP Wednesday

It's been a busy-ish week of sewing, and finishing our unpacking. I only have 2 boxes left to unpack, and I cannot even begin to express how amazing it feels to be that close to being done!

I am participating in the Lucky Stars QAL over at Quilt Story, and I have fallen a bit behind because of the holiday weekend and laziness :) But I am having fun with it, and I love my color combination. I trimmed easily 200+ HST for this project and it was exhausting.
But it was worth it because I love these star blocks, and I am hoping to get them done in the next week or so. Fingers crossed!

I'm completely partially caught up with my Shining Stars BOM, and my Sister's Ten BOM. I am 2 months behind on my Shining Stars BOM, and I have 1 of 2 blocks done for my Sisters Ten BOM for July.

The 1 finished block I have for my July Sister's Ten BOM. I literally whipped this up an hour ago. The colors are not as yellow as this picture make them out to be.

I've "finished" the quilt top and backing for my Craftsy BOM 2012. I omitted the one of the English paper pieced blocks, the Dresden blocks, and the curved seams blocks. But I added in a Scrappy Trip Around block, I just made a bunch of them and I couldn't help but make another one.

This is when I was sewing the sashing on. I need to grab a good picture of the whole thing sometime soon because it is super cute but every time I try to do it, William decides he wants to wrap himself in the quilt top :)
I'm hoping to get this one basted and quilted in the near future. That's my July goal for A Lovely Year of Finishes. I pulled out the batting I had in my stash yesterday and realized that it had a chunk cut out of it :(

Last on my list is this beautiful Anna Maria Horner voile I picked up the other day. It it the first bit of voile I have ever had and it is dreamy! I'm going to make it into a Simply Lovely Tank. I thought about doing a dress, but with how active William is I know I would get more use out of a tank that I can wear with shorts.
I just can't decide if I want to use the thread I have pictured, or something that would blend a bit better. What do you think?

  2. I'm doing the Lucky Stars QAL too....trimming those HST was a nightmare! I can't say I was happily trimming along with those. Lol I was mostly grumbling! I really like your colors! P.S. I'm from Texas, too!

  3. Love the top stars block! Your color combination is fantastic. I love the red thread for the tank, but I think it also depends on how much you like seeing the stitches. I'm one who would go for one to hide my stitching (I tend to not be as pretty as I would like), but your stitching is lovely and so go for it :) (catching you from Freshly Pieced).

  4. Love the lucky stars block! And the awesome color combination.

I would go for the red in the tank, especially since it will highlight your stitching.

  7. Omigoodness that's a lot of HST's to trim, but what a gorgeous star block you've made :) I like the red thread for your top - it will give a lovely finish.

  8. I tried to comment yesterday but I don't think it worked on my iPad...I love that star, especially the purple and gray fabrics!
