Valentines Day Sweethearts Decoration

The more time I spend at home, and the more I feel like decorating for every holiday. Before I would just decorated for big things like Christmas and Halloween, but the small holidays deserve some love too! One of my favorite candies for Valentines Day, besides chocolate :), are the little conversation sweethearts. They taste terrible, but they're super cute and it is fun to see how the sayings change over the years.

This project was super simple, and I could have gotten it done in one day if I didn't have to wait for paint to dry :) Ignore the blue paint because I switched to green after realizing that there is not a blue conversation heart candy.

The wooden hearts were only $1.33 at Hobby Lobby and the ribbon was 50% off, so the bulk of my crafty budget went to the spray paint and the paint pen.
I gave the hearts at least 3 coats of paint; since they were raw wood they seemed to absorb the paint (is that a thing?)

This picture is terrible (it came from my phone at 2am) late night crafting is the best! You can kinda tell the glossiness of the paint, whereas in the previous pic you could still see the wood grain.

I looked up a bunch of different ways to get awesome lettering on these babies, but in the end I just free handed it. I have to say I am pretty proud that they didn't turn out wonky. It's not perfect by any means, but I think it adds to the hominess of the project. Hey its for our home right :)

To hang the hearts, I just laid them out face down and stapled ribbon to the backs of them. Then I tied a bow and stapled the two ends on the top of Jeff's heart. I love that I can add more hearts for more babies when they come along :)

I have it hanging in our dining room, and it is one of the first things you see when you walk in the house. It makes me smile every time I see it :)

I can't take full credit for the awesomeness of this project because I was inspired by something I saw on Pinterest, and of course it was something I didn't repin. Thus it is now lost. I even tried to go find it, but no luck :(

How are you decorating for Valentines Day?
