My First Handmade Sale!

Before William was born, I made him a shopping cart cover for when I take him to the grocery store. Shopping carts can be pretty nasty, so I love the idea of having a barrier between William and the shopping cart that he is most likely going to chew on.

Well today while I was out shopping with William and my sister, the woman in line behind us commented on how much she liked the shopping cart cover. She was very interested and even asked where I had bought it. This is were I got really excited because I told her all about how I made it for him, that it is reversible, and that there are little loops to attach toys.

She was so impressed, she asked if I could make one for her daughter-in-law who is having a baby soon. I nearly fainted! I was so overjoyed with the request that I could barely speak! She wants the cover in time for the baby shower on Sunday, and I reassured her that it wouldn't be a problem. I am really hoping that the other women at the baby shower fall in love with the cart cover too, so that I get a bunch of orders rolling in. Fingers crossed :)

I'll post pictures as soon as I finish making the cover. Any special ideas on the best way to package it so that it looks like a million bucks?

UPDATE: Well I did it again :( I made a project and forgot to take a picture of it before I gave it away. I really need to remember to take pictures more often. I guess this just means I need to make another one :)

  1. Congratulations! Your cart cover sounds like you thought of every detail and executed it perfectly. How wonderful that the woman thought you bought it. What a lovely comment to your craftsmanship.
