Sew Cute Tuesday

Hello darlings! I'm posting this later than normal because my Monday had a case of the Mondays. Thankfully a good night sleep has remedied any yucky feeling from yesterday, and I'm ready for a do-over for this week.

If you follow me on Instagram you know I've still been working away on my #100days100blocks. I'm planning on working ahead on my blocks so that when baby arrives all I need to do is post the picture.

I've been doing a lot of foundation paper piecing for the swaps that I'm in, and I just love how precise the blocks turn out! The Geometric Sewing Machine is for the #quietplayswap, and the center star and create are for the #makerstoteswap.
The left and right pictures are patterns by Kristy from Quiet Play. I love Kristy's patterns and she offers a ton of free ones! The center star is a little 3 inch star pattern that I found by googling small paper pieced star pattern lol. You can find it here.

Here are some of the great projects that were shared last week:

Kathy from Running with Rocket created this wonderful travel wallet!

Cynthia from Quilting is More Fun than Housework created this stunning tumbler quilt.

Finally Teje of Neros Post made this lovely storm at sea mini quilt and entered it in the Small Quilts Category of the #BloggersQuiltFestival

Now it is time to link up your finishes or works in progress from the previous week! You can link up directly from Instagram as well - be sure to tag #SewCuteTuesday and @youngtexanmama on IG so we can see what you're working on!

Sew Cute Tuesday

Hello again and welcome to another wonderful week of Sew Cute Tuesday! I have been busy working on a number of things over the past week. I ordered the new Lizzy House Asterisk blenders from Llama Fabrics, and they are to die for! Several of the fabrics have metallic asterisks, and they have added so much depth to my #100days100blocks.
I made baby boy a couple pairs of Big Butt Baby Pants by Made by Rae and I cannot get over the cuteness! William's teddy bear was my model since little man still has a few weeks before he shows up.

Here are some of the cute projects that were shared last week.

Robin of Robin Loves Quilting made this darling top for her daughter!

Melanie of Mell-Meyer created these beautiful Prism Bee Blocks for Allison @ Campbell Soup Diary.

Last but not least, Janye of Twiggy & Opal shared her progress on her Epic Sampler BOM.
Now it is time to link up your finishes or works in progress from the previous week! You can link up directly from Instagram as well - be sure to tag #SewCuteTuesday and @youngtexanmama on IG so we can see what you're working on!

Friday Finish - Big Butt Baby Pants

I finished these cute pants a couple months ago, and I have finally gotten them washed and ready for baby. William's teddy bear was a lovely model for me today since little man won't be here for a few more weeks. The pattern I used to make the pant is the Big Butt Baby Pants pattern by Made by Rae.
They earned that name because Rae designed the pattern specifically to fit over a cloth diapered baby booty. I cloth diapered William when he was little, and I knew I would be cloth diapering little man too. They have a panel added into the back seam that accommodates the extra fluff, and it also gives the perfect opportunity to add contrasting fabric.
I used some cute pirate prints that have been hanging out in my stash for the past 2 years! They're by Riley Blake, and I've been toying with the idea of fussy cutting a ship from the leftover scraps to applique on a onesie.

The BBBP (Big Butt Baby Pants) pattern is sized from 0-3 months up to 2T, so I started with the smallest and will make more from there. I used Aurifil 40wt thread to stitch the pants together. I like using a 40wt thread because it is stronger than my usual go to 50wt thread, and I always use cotton thread when sewing with cotton fabric.
Also isn't my new recliner awesome! I am seriously in love with it! We ordered it on Amazon, and I was super skeptical about buying a piece of furniture online without testing it out first. Thankfully I was pleasantly surprised at how comfy it is, and it was way less expensive than the ones at Buy Buy Baby!

What have you finished recently?

These were on my Q3 Finish Along Goals list

Sew Cute Tuesday

I woke up this morning thinking I had forgotten something, then I realized it was Tuesday and quickly figured it out! Did anyone else's memory go on vacation while they were pregnant because sometimes I just can remember a thing haha!

I'm still working away on my #100days100blocks as well as my other swaps that I'm a part of right now. I finally finished everything in baby boys room, so now we're just waiting for the little man to arrive! We purchased a new recliner for his room, and I find myself going in there to just hang out and reflect on my excitement/nerves/joy about having another son in just a few weeks!

Here are some of the pretty projects that were shared last week:

Barb of Mountain Quiltworks shared this lovely quilt, and I can see why it is her favorite. So pretty!

Chris of made by ChrissieD shared this great laptop case that was made by her daughter!

Last by not least is this amazing quilt made by Afton of Quilting Mod!

Now it is time to link up your finishes or works in progress from the previous week. You can link up directly from Instagram as well - and be sure to tag #SewCuteTuesday and @youngtexanmama on IG so we can see what you're working on!

Sew Cute Tuesday

Hooray we've made it through August! Being super pregnant has me celebrating every little thing, now if my son's school would open things would be even better. He's so excited to go to school, and I know it's going to be great for him! We're putting him in a new Montessori school, but they're in the process of building a new facility. Since there has been so much rain in Houston this year, the opening date has been pushed back, so I have been taking advantage of the time to get as many only child snuggles in as I can before baby brother arrives.

My first 20 #100days100blocks
Between all the snuggles, I have been working away on my #100days100blocks sew along as well as a few swaps that I joined over on Instagram. I had been wanting to do a swap all summer, but every time I found one, I missed the sign up deadline by a day! So when I found some, I signed up as fast as I could! It is always fun to make something special for someone else.

I loved seeing what everyone was working on this week. Here are some of the wonderful projects that were shared!

Julie of The Crafty Quilter finished this beautiful fall quilt that was a UFO from 2007!

Patty of Elm Street Quilts is working her way through #TheSplendidSampler and she shared all 57 of her blocks!

Last but not least, Allison from Campbell Soup Diary shared her super cute finished Woodland Quilt Along quilt!

Now it is time to link up your finishes or works in progress from the previous week. You can link up directly from Instagram as well - and be sure to tag #SewCuteTuesday and @youngtexanmama on IG so we can see what you're working on!

Tula Pink City Sampler - 25% Done

I have already made it 25% of the way through stitching the Tula Pink City Sampler blocks! Since baby boy is due in October, I have been working ahead on my #100days100blocks. That way I am able to take pictures on post the blocks on the right day rather than worrying about getting it done each day.

Here are my first 20 blocks, I still need to photograph blocks 21-25. I am having so much fun pulling from my Lizzy House stash to complete these blocks, I already have fabrics pulled for blocks 26-35 and I am hoping to get those cut tomorrow.

My in-laws came to visit today, they only live 45 minutes away but rarely come over, so I frantically cleaned picked up the house yesterday and most of this morning. But now that it's done I can spend my free time the rest of the week sewing!

What have you been working on recently? Be sure to share it with Sew Cute Tuesday tomorrow! :D
